Meet Dr. Jacob Johnson
Get to Know the Expert Behind Your Smile
Dr. Jacob Johnson’s passion for orthodontics stems from a lifelong desire to help people feel confident in their smiles. Originally from Southwest Arkansas, he always knew he wanted a career that made a meaningful impact. After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State University, he discovered his calling in orthodontics and completed his specialty training at the University of Oklahoma, focusing on orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.
Dr. Johnson eventually found his way to Lafayette, Louisiana, and knew immediately it was home. Drawn to the culture, warmth, and strong sense of community, he chose to build his life and practice in Acadiana — where he’s proud to help patients of all ages achieve healthy, confident smiles.
Dr. Johnson is honored to be taking over the practice of Dr. Steve Searcy, a respected orthodontist whose name has become synonymous with excellence in Acadiana. He feels privileged to have earned Dr. Searcy’s trust and is committed to carrying on the legacy of compassionate care and clinical excellence that the community has come to know and love.
In his free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his wife, Dr. Alaina Gauthier Johnson — a Lafayette native and general dentist — and their daughter, Julianne. He loves going out to eat with friends, sneaking in a round of golf, and soaking up everything Lafayette has to offer — always grateful to call this place home.

Get to Know the Expert Behind Your Smile
Born and raised in Monroe, I have made Lafayette my home since 1977. My amazing wife, Rocks Ann, and I have two beautiful daughters: Lindsey Saterfiel, who is a general dentist right next door, and Emily, who is an estate manager in Los Angeles. We have three grandkids who live close by so we get to spend a lot of time with them. I will do anything and everything possible to guide, nourish and love them the best I can.
When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me at my camp on False River by New Roads. I really enjoy cruising on my party barge: jamming to my music and enjoying the great outdoors.
I’m also active in our community. I’ve been involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Games of Acadiana, and Donated Dental Services. These organizations provide a way for me to thank Lafayette for the blessings that have been bestowed on me, and to strengthen and make our community happier and healthier.
