Clear Aligners

Comfortable, Clear, & Customized for Your Smile.

Caring for your clear aligners is simple—and just takes a few easy steps to keep your treatment on track. With the right routine, you’ll protect your aligners from damage, maintain oral hygiene, and ensure your smile stays on schedule. Below are a few helpful tips to keep your aligners (and your teeth) in great shape throughout your orthodontic journey.

Daily Wear

Wear your aligners for 20–22 hours a day, or as directed.

Caution While Eating & Drinking

Only remove them to eat, drink (anything besides water), brush, or floss. Brush and floss before putting them back in to prevent plaque buildup and keeps your aligners—and your smile—fresh.

Keeping Them Clean

Give your aligners a gentle rinse and clean them daily with a soft toothbrush (no toothpaste needed!) or an aligner-friendly cleanser. Avoid hot water, as high temperatures can affect the fit.

Safe Storage

Keep them in their case when you’re not wearing them. Store your clear aligner safely in your case to avoid loss or damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our FAQ sections are designed to help you quickly find answers to common orthodontic issues and provide guidance on how to manage issues until you can visit our office. If you’re unsure about any situation or need immediate assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us for expert support.

1. How do clear aligners work?
Clear aligners gradually shift your teeth using a series of custom-made, removable trays. Each set makes small, precise adjustments until your smile reaches its ideal alignment.
2. Are clear aligners as effective as braces?
For most mild to moderate cases, yes. Clear aligners are a discreet and comfortable option for straightening teeth without brackets or wires.
3. How long will I need to wear them?
Treatment times vary, but most patients complete their treatment in 6–18 months with consistent wear (20–22 hours a day or as recommended).
4. Can I eat and drink with my aligners in?
Only drink water while wearing them. Remove your aligners to eat or drink anything else to prevent staining or damage.
5. How do I clean my aligners?
Rinse them daily with lukewarm water and brush gently with a soft toothbrush—avoid hot water and do not use toothpaste. Special cleaning crystals or tablets are available to give them a more thorough washing.
6. Will they affect my speech?
You might notice a slight lisp at first, but most patients adjust within a few days.
7. What happens if I lose a tray?
Contact our office right away so you stay on track with treatment. Depending on how long it’s been since you lost the aligner, we may recommend going back to your previous set, moving forward to the next set, or ordering a replacement. Every case is a little different, so we’ll give you the best advice based on your specific progress to ensure your smile keeps moving in the right direction.
